SAN JOSE, Calif., (August 1, 2005) - Liquid Mountain wishes to congratulate professional wakeboarder Cathy Williams on her invitation to compete in the 2005 X Games August 4 7 in Los Angeles. As one of the athletes attending this invitation-only competition, Williams was chosen by a wakeboard specific committee whose selection criteria included all media coverage and contest results up until the July 10, 2005 deadline.
Williams,
36, is one of the most experienced riders in the women's wakeboard industry
and has been competing on the wakeboard circuit for nearly eight years. Known
for her outstanding performance as well as her contribution to the growth of
women's wakeboarding through clinics and exhibitions, Williams has been training
intensely and is focused on improving her eight place finish in the 2004 X Games.I'm thrilled to be a part of the X Games, proclaims Williams. To be involved in a competition that encompasses all age groups and riding styles is incredible. I'm proud to be in wakeboard's 30+ crowd and I hope that my participation will inspire women of all ages to wakeboard.
Earlier this year, Williams competed in France and won the Enghien Les Bains 2005 World Cup title giving her the edge as she leads the pack to the next World Cup stop September 5, in Moscow.
Liquid Mountain proudly sponsors Williams and is currently working with her to develop a signature swim suit for the 2006 summer line. Williams, the former 2000 and 2001 European Pro Tour Champion, 2001 AWA US (currently USA Wakeboard) National Champion and the 2001 IWSF World Champion, is also an avid surfer and moto-x rider.
Drawing crowds of spectators, the wakeboard portion of the X Games will be held Saturday August 6, 2005 at Long Beach California's Marine Stadium. The event will air live on ESPN from 1-3 pm. EST.
